End the School Year Right with Pear Deck’s Newest Features

As the 2022-2023 school year comes to a close, we want to end the school year right by reflecting on the exciting updates and newest features Pear Deck has released in the past few months. Our goal is always to make the teaching experience more efficient and effective for educators so they can spend more time focused on student learning.

Content Orchard filtering capabilities

In January, we updated our Content Orchard, making it easier than ever to find templates, quick-start activities, and ready-to-teach lessons. You can now filter based on grade, subject, and category (including Decks and partner content) to find the content you need faster.

Pear Deck Instant Share

We released Pear Deck Instant Share in March, a feature that enables GoGuardian Teacher users to seamlessly deliver Pear Deck presentations from a live session to consolidate even more instructional workflows. Best of all, students don't have to use join codes to participate — and teachers can further personalize learning by assigning different Decks to individuals or groups of students.

Pear Deck Home update

April saw the release of a new look for Pear Deck Home, making it easier than ever to access the tools you need for every powerful learning moment in your classroom. The updated interface of your homepage now features two new areas: one for Instructional Tools like the Content Orchard and one for Practice Tools like Flashcard Factory. Plus, now you can access Pear Practice (formerly Giant Steps), a fun and exciting way to turn practice into play, right from the Practice Tools. With these updates, it’s easier than ever to adjust instruction in the moment to engage students and reinforce learning.

On the horizon — Pear Deck District Library

One of the biggest updates in the works is Pear Deck's District Library, coming soon! This feature will enable teachers to publish their Pear Deck templates, including those that align with relevant state and subject standards, to a shared library accessible to all teachers in their district account.

District Library makes curriculum sharing easier and more efficient for teachers, creating a shared library of high-quality Pear Decks that can be accessed across the school district. With a centralized repository of approved, standards-aligned materials, educators and C&I Leaders can easily access and utilize these resources. Plus, it fosters collaboration and feedback among teachers, leading to improved teaching and learning outcomes for all students.

Accessibility for all

Pear Deck is devoted to accessibility, diversity, and inclusion. As part of that commitment, we strive to follow applicable accessibility guidance in the W3C’s WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines in developing our products and the Pear Deck website. We want to help ensure Pear Deck supports all students to become confident, independent, and empowered learners.

As we look forward to the next school year, we are excited to continue our work to make the teaching experience more efficient and effective for educators, so they can focus on what matters most: student learning.
