Pear Assessment: Sneak Peek of Next Release
Pear Assessment
The following updates will go live on September 29. Your feedback is always valuable! Please share suggestions using short Feedback Form
More Secure Session Timeout
We're making your Pear Assessment experience more secure with an upcoming change to session time. All users will now have a fixed 8-hour session from the time of login. Sessions will expire automatically after 8 hours to prevent accidental access on shared devices.
- Students will get a 15-minute warning popup before session expiry with a timer and prompt to save their work.
- Teachers and Admins will see a similar prompt with the option to continue session or log out, keeping you in control.
- Students in active tests will not be interrupted; their session will refresh automatically.
Share Reports with Access Controls
Soon, you’ll be able to share reports with chosen roles and users, without needing to create a collaboration group, while controlling exactly what they see. This update makes sharing precise, secure, and tailored to each audience.
- Access controls – Decide if recipients see the same data as you or only their own students’ data.
- Flexible sharing – Share with your state, district, collaboration groups, or individuals (based on your role). You can also share with all district admins, school admins, or teachers.
- Shared Reports hub – View all reports shared with you or by you, with details on who shared, scope, and data access.
Response Frequency for Fill-in-the-Blank Items
We’re enhancing response analysis for Fill-in-the-Blank items in the Response Frequency report.
- See what answers students chose in Drag & Drop, Text Dropdown, Label Image, and Editing Task questions.
- Each option will display with the percentage of students who selected it, helping you quickly spot common errors and misconceptions.
- Correct and incorrect responses are color-coded for easy interpretation.
Student Grade Display in Reports
We’re making grade data clearer and more reliable across reports. Student Reports will display the official enrolled grade from the roster for the selected term, if available, along with class grades of the enrolled classes.
Content Converter transfer of image and math equations
We're further improving the Content Converter, our popular feature that enables educators to transform existing quizzes and assignments into Pear Assessments tests. Starting this October, Content Converter will support accurate transfers of mathematical equations and images directly from the uploaded document.
This improvement is currently supported for DOCX file uploads, with future updates extending to PDF files as well.
Semantic Search (limited release)
We are introducing semantic search in item library, moving beyond traditional exact term and phrase matching to deliver results based on user context and intent. This enhancement will make it easier for educators to discover the most relevant content, even when their search queries don’t exactly match the stored terms or standards definition.
The rollout of this improvement will happen in phases to allow for thorough evaluation and feedback gathering. This October release will enable semantic search only for Free and Foundation districts.
