Just as students have diverse learning styles, we understand that teachers do too. Earlier this year Pear Deck released a gallery of new help videos that provide getting-started tips in (approximately) three-minute bites. But we know videos aren’t for everyone, and some of us just love a more traditional approach to learning a new skill.

That’s why we are delighted to announce the release our very first ebook, Getting Started with Pear Deck!

Written by Educators For Educators

Getting Started with Pear Deck was written by Pear Deck Certified Coaches Mary Alys Foutz and Mike Mohammad. Together Mike and Mary Alys walk you methodically through the Pear Deck process of engaging every student every day. From installing the add-on for Google Slides, to leveraging the Teacher Dashboard for sub plans, these coaches share simple tips and tricks to maximize student engagement in any classroom - K through college, and even for PD!

How to Use This Book:

Whether you’re looking for the basics or seeking a deeper dive, The Pear Deck Getting Started Guide has what you need. Here’s how to get the most out of it:

Don’t Skip the Table of Contents

Looking for something specific? Or just browsing for inspiration? Use the (very thorough) table of contents to guide your journey. You might be surprised to discover things you didn’t know you didn’t know about Pear Deck.

Peary Good Ideas

In the midst of the instructions and the screenshots, Mike and Mary Alys tuck in practical little nuggets that will inspire creative application of Pear Deck, take you on a (brief) deeper dive, or reassure you that you’re on the right track! Just look for the pear with the speech bubble.

Mind the Links

Embedded throughout the text you’ll also find links to additional resources: blog posts on the theory or pedagogy behind a particular feature, Twitter accounts to follow for inspearation, and much more! When you feel like you’ve mastered a particular feature, check out the accompanying links for ideas about how to take your student engagement to new heights.
