The American Civil War: Developing a Strategy
This deck is best used for middle grades at the beginning of an American Civil War unit. It is based on thinking and discussion around various battle strategies that helped set up the course of the war. Students explore various advantages and disadvantages of geographic locations and positioning when fighting battles. It also has students evaluate the differences between fighting an offensive or a defensive war. Then, using maps, it has students predict what strategies the Union might use in their approach to the war.
