As Office Assistant, you will be helping our team with a variety of projects from managing daily errands to scheduling job applicant interviews, from managing files and inventory to helping with data projects. We are an edtech startup that’s growing quickly; with that comes a new work and new challenges to figure out. We are looking for someone with a flexible and energetic personality, ready to jump at a new problem and figure it out. This is a part-time position: approximately 20-30 hours a week.
Here are different projects you might work on in a given day:
Post job ads
Reply to applicants explaining the next step in the hiring process
Schedule interviews coordinating across several calendars
Maintain office inventory
Run errands in downtown Iowa City
Help organize and set up for meetings, parties, and events
Invent and maintain organizational systems
Make the office a fun, pleasant place to be
Process Purchase Orders, bills, deposit checks
Take care of incoming and outgoing mail
File paperwork and maintain confidentiality
Data entry and proofreading
What we’re looking for:
Great organizational skills
You’ll need to manage many different applicants for many different positions
Attention to detail
You’ll need to make sure the right messages are being sent to the right people
Awareness of good security practices
You’ll be dealing with sensitive information
Joyful and flexible
There will be a lot of different things going on and you’ll need to go with the flow
Proficient with GSuite applications, particularly Sheets (or Excel)
High level of accountability
Excellent verbal and written communication
Honesty, Determination, and Humility
