Marketing Strategist

The Pear Deck marketing team owns the ideation and delivery of programs that help grow the Pear Deck educator community. This includes live events, social strategy, sponsorship programs, nurture campaigns, certifications, product announcements, and more. We're looking for a new team member to help us bring people together across our website, social channels, and events; attract new users to Pear Deck; and reinforce relationships with existing users and customers.

This role requires a commitment to our mission—to help teachers engage every student, every day— and a deep respect for teachers, students, and schools.

Our team is defined by high levels of creativity, positivity, and accountability. A new team member will have broad marketing experience and a wide range of skills, is excited to tackle big challenges, loves to collaborate, and brings a sense of creativity and curiosity to their work. You think of marketing as more than just a series of promotions and channels and more as a way to create real relationships with real people.

Things you might do in a given (week, month, quarter) 

  • Thoughtfully use internal and external content to start conversations and cultivate a sense of community as the manager of Pear Deck's social media channels 
  • Work with team to design and send out the Pear Deck Newsletter on a weekly basis 
  • Work with marketing team members to plan, write, and create emails and in-app messages to introduce a new product feature 
  • Track the success of campaigns using Intercom and Google Analytics and create a report of the results to share with your team 
  • Update and create new pages on the Pear Deck website 
  • Monitor site searches and website traffic and use the results to recommend new content ideas 


  • Manage digital marketing channels (website, email campaigns, in-app messaging, newsletters)
  • Successfully and consistently convey the Pear Deck brand voice across channels  

  • Create or collaborate with others to create content (promotions, videos, blog posts, landing pages, email campaigns, etc.)  

  • Develop and drive day-to-day community management across the Pear Deck Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram channels

  • Regularly track, monitor, and optimize performance of campaigns and accounts

  • Support campaign launches, go-to-market plans, corporate announcements using all necessary tools (e.g. website, emails, social media and blogs)

A great candidate will have: 

  • 3+ years of experience working as part of a strong marketing team 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of empathy

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical and project management skills

  • Comfortable working with and learning new technologies 

  • High level of creativity, positivity, and accountability,

  • Comfortable working quickly and with a sense of urgency

We're looking for people with these skills:

  • Knowledge of website content management systems (we use Squarespace) 
  • Experience managing social media (especially Twitter) for business 

  • Basic knowledge of web analytics tools like Google Analytics

  • Proficient with GSuite applications

  • Understanding of funnel management and lead nurturing
  • Experience working with Salesforce or other CRM tools 

  • Familiarity with Intercom and Mailchimp  

  • Design skills (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)

  • Some experience with event marketing and conference logistics
