Opening Routine: Mood Meter
As we return to school this year, Pear Deck has partnered with Facing History and Ourselves to help build community and trust within classrooms, both physical and virtual. With these quick, interactive routines—designed to take five to ten minutes each—educators can foster a sense of belonging and prioritize social-emotional learning every day.
This routine helps students recognize how they are feeling and learn strategies for regulating their emotions. It also helps teachers understand how their students are feeling so they can make a plan to follow up one-on-one as needed. Over time and with repeated use of this routine, students can develop an increasingly sophisticated vocabulary to describe their feelings and work their empathy muscles by listening to their peers and strategizing about ways to support them.
